Coronavirus implications to the Race the Waves and Steampunk weekend 2020

The Safety and Welfare of our Race the Waves and Steampunk weekend participants and visitors is paramount.

At this time:

We are continuing to follow the advice given from Public Health England and that of our local government, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Currently their guidance is for business to continue as usual, whilst ensuring the latest public health advice is adhered to and therefore the Race the Waves weekend is continuing as scheduled for May.

As a matter of course, we have an increased focus and priority towards Coronavirus control at our pre-event meetings. Therefore as part of our responsibilities we have put the following in place:

We are advising all participants and visitors to follow the official government public health advice, which can be found here:
Posters will be placed around the Bridlington promenade and Spa, as a reminder of the public health advice & personal hygiene responsibilities which includes washing your hands regularly with soap and hot water. There are signed permanent toilet / washroom facilities on the promenade and also within the Bridlington Spa.

We have separate hand-wash / toilet facilities for our participants within our contained event area on the beach.

#TheManorCourtHotel is our Event Hub for the #RacetheWaves weekend and is complying fully with the latest NHS Coronavirus directives.

Our Steampunk Emporium within the Bridlington Spa is complying fully with the latest NHS Coronavirus directives.

Thank you for your cooperation.

BACKFIRE Promotions.

Dear Race the Waves Participants.

Thank you for your patience and your overwhelming messages of support towards us is truly humbling.

At this time our event partners the ‘East Riding of Yorkshire Council’ are giving their priority and deploying their officers to the Covid 19 outbreak.
Race the Waves is postponed as per their announcement and we are all in an enforced limbo at this time until they can consider suitable dates for their licensing and support.

BACKFIRE Promotions require all the official support in place to run our world class event at Bridlington. It is far too early to propose dates to the authorities for their consideration or to expect their focus to Race the Waves, so all we ask, please be patient.

We are encouraged by the overwhelming support which is being presented daily by our Race the Waves participants to leave everything in place and ready to go at our first available opportunity. To this end, any positive move by the authorities to consider a suitable Race the Waves date and you guys will be notified immediately and hopefully you’ll be able to manage your diaries to join us.

Participants..please check your emails for updates.

Best Wishes and stay safe to all from everyone involved with Backfire Promotions...
